Act on Dilshan Sanga…Will you? I believe no

leave a comment »

To those who quote that there was an over reaction to the Randigate, my simple answer is  that this team harps a lot on the character (every player has rich loads of character so much so that it leaks out in every statement, press confrence and syndicated articles), so this act of delibrate no bowling was a bolt on their character.
A player signalling Randi to bowl a deliberate no ball is in line of the under arm ball bowled by Trevor Chappell on behest of his brother Greg Chappell.
Many have reacted that other teams also follow the tactics to debarr other player of making a hundred. Fine. But that does not get caught on camera as it did for Randi Kallumullah.  Thats same as all teams do some bit of ball tampering, but except Pakistanis none of them get caught on the camera.
There are differences in every dressing room, but not all of them come in open as it does in Pakistan.
I would be very keen to read Sangakara to make a statement on his wish that he would take the action on fact if somebody had deliberately asked Randi to ball a no ball. Now that Dilshan is out in open as the culprit it would be interesting to see what action Sangakara takes on Dilshan and whether Dilshan gets to play in Delhi Daredevils anymore? DD is inevitable without Virender Sehwag, but Dilshan  ? Well he is not the player anymore he was in 2009.

Bat as long as we can

leave a comment »

For a change of course why not bat till tomorrow EOD and score as much as we can so that we also cross 800 or even 900 against SL. Make this buffoons toil hard on the field, I bet they would never ever make pancake shirtfront pata pitches ever in their lives again. Sri Lankans need to be given their own medicine only then they would be forced hard to play some positive KRIKAT.

RIP Test Cricket

with one comment

RIP Test Cricket.
1877 – 2010
It was killed today at SSC, Colombo mercilessly by Kumar Sangakara and company in quest of meaningless batting records, personal batting milestones.
They were miffed with the Test cricket for following reasons:
·         No Murali to play for to take 20 wikats.
·         No tests to play in Australia and South Africa
·         Inability to win fair contested games where scores do not exceed 400.
Next heard of they are arranging a mini world cup in their backyard consisting of Zim, BD, Kenya and Scotland so that they could plunder 500 runs in ODIs too and somebody break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 200 runs in ODIs by scoring 250 or even 300.

Galle Test Day 3

leave a comment »

Indians managed to sniff out some early wickets on a helpful pitch, thanks to the efforts from A Mithun and Ishant Sharma. However the Sri Lankans are still going strong with no signs of declaration whatsoever.  Samarweera, Lady Jaywardhena and P Jaywardhena went quite early than expected, but then its turn of Malinga and Herath to bat on and on.
SL might have murali have some runs in his belt too. Who knows he might even get a single wicket or not. Sehwag might spoil his swansong or even anybody from the top 7 can do so.
Malinga has got a  50. Herath has already got it. Chanaka and Muttiah would have it too. 600 should be apt score for them to score in a rain truncated game.  They are now batting since day 1 and we are in session number 8 of the Test.
A lot of blame has to go to the Indian spin attack too which is just insipid and lacklusture as Sri Lankan desire to win. IPL Ojha has gone for 100 and Harbhajan is following suit. Ishant bowled bad on day 1, but made great amends on day 3. He needs confidence and time, something which Srikanth is not ready to give him. He should have been playing in England on the A tour, instead he was sitting home and some Ganpathys and etc were representing Indian bowling in England.
Poor Amit Mishra had a poor tour game, IPL Ojha had 8 wickets in that game, he is finding wickets hard to come by in the games that matter. He is other example of cricketers who give  their best shot in IPL and not so good shot when playing for country.  Raina, Sharma being the other members of the IPL glorious club.
Post Anil Kumble, the Indian spin bowling looks bleak and Harbhajan is now at best a stock restrictive bowler who doesnot find wickets any more.
SL are showing no signs of declaration whatsoever.  But we hardly expect them too. They have been showing churlish buffoonery every time they step to play Test cricket, thus killing its spirit and soul every time they play.
Malinga is fast approaching his 100. What a comeback it would be for him in Tests after 3 years.
Sangakara is having a sheepish grin and he is practicing a speech in post match conference full of character words and assertive stuff to feed his articulate image in the media.
No wonder that major batting records in Tests do belong to Sri Lanka and most of them are at home ending in dull lame boring yawning draws.

Yawning Test series begins

leave a comment »

Sri Lanka begin their home series against India yet another time. Poor islanders. They did not have a single Test team to tour them this year until India agreed to cos they need to defend their no 1 rankings. Despite having a so called great bowler in their ranks, their team is unwarranted in most Test playing countries. SA, Australia hate them to be playing in their home turf. Reason :  they play negative crickat.

And nothing of that sort is going to change today.

Run piling pitches would be the highlight of the day and then even a flat track bully like Samarweera would make hundreds making us feel he is batting great.

We would hear lot of character stuff from Sanga, whose utterances are termed as articulate by media. We would hear how SL is playing good krickat and is ready to have fun in the middle by Mahila Jaywardhena. Lasith Malinga would break done in middle and Lehar Pepsi (whats his name ?) would make a hundred along side SL’s Karthik — Dinesh.

For India, the bowlers would post a sorry picture. They dont have good bowlers except Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan SIngh.

Mithun is at best a medium pacer. I hope he turns his detractors wrong, which would be good for India. Munaf Patel is as listless and disintrested in the middle as Srikanth is to chose CP in the Test side or looking beyond Chennai for team selections.

So the onus is again on the top 6 or 7 of the Indian batting lineup to score and try force a result. SL batsmen would look for runathons and batting records.  Going to be a yawning series as anything down in Lanka is such a yawn!!!!!!!!

Sanga favors UDRS

leave a comment »

Kumar Sangakara has been making a lot of noise on UDRS. He is disappointed, disgusted and a heck lot of emotions have come out of his daily dose of rants on the usage of UDRS in the upcoming Test series vs India.  No doubt he is a buoyant supporter of this flawed technology due to the fact that he thinks UDRS won his team 2-1 in 2008 and lost 0-2 in 2009 in India.
Many close decisions went against India and they were the differences in what were 26 wkts to Mendis and 6 wkts to Mendis. 29 decisions went against India and 3 went in their favor, that’s a huge difference.  BCCI and Indians are not big supporters of UDRS. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and MSD have publicly put foot down on the UDRS thingy.
Question is why does Sangakara root too wildly for this technology.  Simple reason : he does not have 20 wicket taking bowlers left in his kitty.  Murali is not a force, they dropped Mendis and Suraj Randiv would probably make his debut(or he has made).  Fast bowlers except Malinga are not a threat to India anymore, unless the batsmen self destruct.
So UDRS would only be the tool Sangakara would rely on getting half hearted appeals in his team’s favor and try to win a series or prevent a loss.
IMO Sri Lanka are going to go to the 1990s when they batted and batted and batted for 3 days in row to rewrite batting and partnership records and save the series. As a result they are yet to win a test series in India, Australia and South Africa.
They are the most negative Test playing nation in the world and this series wont be any different.
Those who would rip me apart for this statement, just have a look at the score card of the infamous Test match when SL scored 6/952 when Blabba Queen debuted and Vaas made 61.

No UDRS and MM means SL cant win

with one comment

When UDRS is on SL wins….

When UDRS is off SL gives away 499 + runs and loses the series.

Murali is now thing of past and Mendis is dropped. Who are those bowlers who are gonna take 20 Indian wickets ?

Mind you this 20 do not include Raina, Jadeja or Sharma — the self destructors. But this contain the troika of ST, RD and VVS added by VS and GG adding to 42999 test runs and 125 test hundreds.

You’ve got to fix UDRS before seeing it used more frequently and across wider audience. 29 to 3 was the score when 2008 series was played and the difference b/w score of 1-2 to India and 2-1 to India.

This time SL dont look good to win even a single Test. Expect some 1997 like draws where Mahela, Sanga and Samyweera will try to go for runathons. SImple. They dont have bowlers to take 20.

Keep ranting about how bad ddca is or how unprofessional bcci is or how morally right is lankan team which chickened out seeing an impending defeat, but nobody says a word on the fact that not a single bye was conceeded by Indian captain and the fact that his team wanted to play n the rivals wanted to stop. Where are those critics who sit right ready to tear apart anything Indian team does. India is forever villians and the chickens are always romantics’ favorites. Sangakara hasn’t spoken a word on this fiasco and all speaking has been done by his sidekicks.
Abandoning a game when things don’t go per their plan is typical lankan habit. Ranatunga did it, blabba king wanted final scrapped and now vocab king got Delhi odi abandoned. They won’t ever win in countries like India Australia or south africa.

Eden 1996

Just a reminder to the Lankans who have been talking hugely about how their batsmen showed character in abandoned Delhi ODI , that 13 years back in a World Cup Semi final which the entire country wanted to win, Indians continued to play on horrific pitch and in the process lost out to whims of WI referee Lloyd who gifted the game to Lanka who then went on to win the WC (3 abandoned games vs Aus, WI and India).
Back then no Indian player moaned or groaned or howled about the dreadful pitch which saw Jayasuriya take 3/12 and the other lesser Lankan spinners turn the ball square.
No captain from Indian side rushed to the middle to stop the play or no ex captain gave an interview to Cricinfo that how ridiculous it was to see players who play spin well get stumped :(.
Little doubt that the pitch was treacherous and a blot on Delhi, but the way Lankans approached the game abandonment was horrendous. Why didnt Kandamby approach umpire right when he came to the middle ? Why did Jayasuriya and Dilshan not talk to umpires after Dilly was injured ?
No one would know the thinking process behind Sangakara’s surge to the field in 24th over. That saves him one more defeat, but its that “bakre ki maa kab tak khair manayegi”. Questions would be asked of him for failure to win anything significant on the tour to a country where they  havent won anything so far and wont win anything in long time to come.

Questions

The pitch was supposedly horrible and in the end it would have been a good one to abandon the match.
But the body language and attitude of Lankan captain has been like Ravan.
How many of  the 5 wikats that fell in SL inns fall to the nasty deliveries ?
Why did not the Lankan batsmen complain for 23 overs. An impending and humiliating loss coming made them complain ?
Why do always SL moan about everything ? Agreed its ridiculous to have such a pitch and Mr jaitley would have lot to answer on this, but have we ever heard any Indian player (captain) complaint about it ?
With the end of tour they go home with losers tag. Nothing in Tests, nothing in ODIs, nothing in T20Is.
Negativity ke baap he yeh log.
